Kungs (pronounced “Koongs”) (a.k.a. Valentin Brunel), most renowned for his smash hit in 2016: ‘This Girl’, is a 21 year old producer from the south of France. He started his musical career banging the djembe he received from his parents when he turned five. Since his early days, Valentin could spend entire afternoons listening to Rock’n’Roll classics with his father. From The Who to The Kooks and many in-between, this essential listening forged the first steps to Kungs’ inspiration as an artist.

Discovering a passion for electronic music in his teenaged years, Kungs became infused with an interest for melodic sounds and crafted timbres, always led by a dominant vocal. By the age of seventeen his interests had evolved, and creating melodies using his very own instruments became his passion.

Shortly after his first experiences with digital production software, Valentin started sharing remixes across the internet and its social networks. His remixes of Bob Marley’s ‘Jammin’ and ‘West Coast’ by Lana Del Rey ft. Molly both boasted several million plays on Soundcloud & YouTube.

After creating a few unofficial remixes, requests for official remixes from the industry’s A-listers were only around the corner. From Axwell & Ingrosso to Lost Frequencies, Kungs quickly became a key remixer for other main DJ producers. With early support slots for significant acts from many aspects of the melodic house landscape such as Kygo and Klingande, Kungs quickly formed into a well established artist in the scene with a tendency to provide driven and impressive productions and live sets.

In January 2016, Kungs traveled the European continent alongside David Guetta in order to ensure his Listen Tour warm-ups. Simultaneously, his tune ‘This Girl’, a rework of the Australian band Cookin’ On 3 Burners, was released in Europe mid-February. He worked the deep soul-classic by speeding things up a bit while adding catchy trumpets which made that the song literally crushed the worldwide charts.

A few months later, the highly anticipated follow-up of ‘This Girl’ called ‘Don’t You Know’ featuring the British singer Jamie N Commons was released and hit the top 10 of most of the European charts including a #1 airplay in France and Germany.

In order to let the world discover his musical spectrum, Kungs released his debut album “LAYERS” led by his new single ‘I Feel So Bad” in November 2016. In May 2017 LAYERS already reached a platinum status in France and diamond internationally with over 500,000 copies sold.

The young producer currently shares his vibes around the globe, playing alongside names like David Guetta and The Chainsmokers. Besides recently winning ‘best electronic/dance album of the year’ at the French Grammys, Kungs also played the prestigious US festival Coachella for the first time past April ‘17. Early August 2017, after a few weeks in the studio, Kungs released his brand new single ‘More Mess’ featuring the British singer Olly Murs and the rising Belgian rap artist Coely.
